St. Joseph Mercy Hospital
EMERGENCY DEPARTMENT RENOVATIONS
Contracting Resources provided general contracting services for the St. Joseph Mercy Oakland Hospital Emergency Department renovation project located in Pontiac, MI.
The project consisted of phased renovations of the existing emergency department while occupied. Phase 1 of the project was the removal of the existing reception desk and modifications to the entrance area including installation of a new security station with secured entry doors to the rest of the hospital and reception desk as well as a new cash office.
Phase 2 of the project included the conversion of four existing Triage rooms into two rooms, enlarging the existing sub-waiting area while providing architectural features and finishes to allow additional privacy.
Canopy lighting was also upgraded.
Phase 1 included the completion of a rated egress corridor connection from the grand concourse to the newly constructed pedestrian bridge over Woodward Ave. Timing and sequencing was coordinated with bridge construction and the completion date of this was work critical.
Phase 2 of the project was a new salad bar that was built adjacent to an operational mini mart. Work consisted of refrigeration units for serving, a food prep area and feature wall with digital menus.
Phase 3 was the Integrated Medicine Spa and Employee Wellness Center. The entrance and access to these areas was also along the grand concourse of the hospital and coordination with surrounding surgery suites was critical.
Each portion of the project was very detailed with regards to the architectural and lighting finishes selected and a compressed schedule resulted in a dynamic project.
